Legal Question in Criminal Law in Missouri
My son was in a car accident. He was driving his friends ,what turned out to be, uninsured car. My son lost control of the car on a corner. The car rolled several times and there were injuries. The owner of the car was in the vehicle and had put my son as the designated driver, he as well as two girls were injured. My son had lost his senses and fled the seen. Long story short , he is being held in jail witha 50,000. bond. This happened August 15th. Now the father of the the car owner is black mailing me through text messages, telling me to give up my sons property and no one will talk. Please help. Can someone please tell me what kind of an attorney I need and what I need to do?
1 Answer from Attorneys
Obviously, your son needs the best criminal defense attorney he can afford. The attorney may be able to get the Court to reduce the bond or otherwise make arrangements for some alternative which allows your son to be released from custody pending the disposition of the criminal charges against him. Also, I would suggest that an attorney could and probably should represent you in response to the actions taken by the father of the injured person. It may be that the actions of the father are, in fact violations of the law themselves.
