Legal Question in Criminal Law in Missouri

My son (18) and his friend (18) each had a bag with less than 1 gm of pot im the glovebox of my sons car. The other kid had pot and a pipe. They were stopped at a check point and handed it over when asked. The other parents are now trying to say their sons pot was in my sons car, so not their problem, although they both have a court date and a police report. Will my son take the fall for this? He has no previous anything - not even a speeding ticket.

You do not need to worry about your son "taking the fall" for someone else's pot. He is probaby charged with "possession" in municipal or county court, and it doesn't matter if he had one gram or two grams. What does matter is aboiding a conviction. Some Courts will give a defendant a chance to aboid the conviction even of they are not tepresented by an attorney. But, some Courts will not. It may be in his best interests to hire an attorney to be sure that everything is handled properly.
