can a suspect be held in jail for arson if there is no physical evidence except a witness coming forth 2 years after the crime?

A defendant may be arrested based upon a statement from a witness. A conviction without other evidence is another thing altogether. The mere fact that a witness names the defendant, is not usually in itself enough to prevent the defendant from bonding out pending trial.
