Legal Question in Criminal Law in Missouri

Warrant Issued

OK. I believe that I have a warrant for failure to appear in court on three counts of endangering the welfare of a child. One for each of my children. I have a few questions regarding this. Endangering the welfare of a child is a misdemeanor not a felony correct? I am planning on taking care of this and I am looking into lawyers right now, however, I am supposed to travel to Jamaica in two weeks or so and I am curious if I will be arrested upon return to the US or not? I am not runnning as I have roundtrip tickets but I have family getting married down there. Lastly, someone told me that when you have three counts on something, it becomes a felony, is this correct?

Re: Warrant Issued

Do you have any of the legal documents concerning the case against you? the information, indictment or summons will tell you the answers to some of your questions. I would need to speak with a court clerk or see those documents (or the court file) to tell you exactly what you are facing.

I can tell you that the fact that there may be three counts does not make anything a felony. I can also tell you that you should take care of hiring an attorney, getting the warrant cancelled or bond posted, andgetting a new court date if necessary should be your highest priority. It is always a lot easier to take care of these types of things while you are not incarcerated, and you should not continue to risk being taken in at any time. I do handle a lot of criminal defense work in Jefferson County including everything from traffic cases to DWI's, drug cases, burglaries, robberies, stabbings and child molestation. I am confident that I could offer you my services at a reasonable fee if you do not already have an attorney. Please feel free to call me.
