Legal Question in Criminal Law in Missouri

my wife went to see our daughter and her baby for his first birthday. when she arrived, and was let in by my daughter her boyfriend the babies father grabbed my wife and threw her against the wall and was going to do harm. my wife ran out to the car and called 911. the police arrived and would not do anything. they said she was not hurt so they could do nothing. They said she could press charges if she wanted. even after he told the police I have done worse thing to people. Background on this person Man. He has bipolar, he is very abusive both verbal and physical to my daughter. He has threaten to kill her. He also will not let her take her baby outside the house along for any reason. He see things that are not there and talk to things that are not there. He father who also had bipolar killed his wife. I do not want any harm to happen to my daughter who is scared out of her witts and for what he did to my wife. what do I do. Also his doctor also wanted him to go in for evaluation by four other doctors to see his mental state. Please help

This is the type of situation that warrants a hotline call. Family and Child servcies can discreetly evaluate the situation to determine if they feel that the child and her mother are in danger. Yu can remain anonymous. Your wife should be the one to explian wha thappened to her, and you can explain what background information you know or suspect about your daughter's mate. Maybe it is nothing, and yoru fears are out of proportion to reality, this will make your duaghter and the grandchild's father resent your reporting you suspicions of abuse. But, it seems preferable to become unpoplular around your possible Son-in-law and your daughter than to go to the funeral of any of the three.

Do not exagerate the occurrences or state your suspicions as fact. But, tell the truth, and the trianed folks may, hopefully, diffuse the situation.
