Legal Question in Criminal Law in Missouri

My wife has been issued a summons that says she violated the law which requires teachers or school officials to report cases of child abuse. My wife is not a licensed or certified teacher. She works as an adjuct faculty instructor at a local community college. When she learned of the case of the abuse she was not under contract at the school. Although she did assume her position at the school within 3 weeks of learning of the abuse, her knowledge of the abuse was not within the scope of her job as an instructor. So, should she considered a madated reporter?

If your wife learned of the case prior to workign at the community college, she was nto obligated to reprot based upon her employment. However, she may have been obligated based upon a certification application to teach or obtain teaching credentials from the state. There are many gradations of these, and your post does not make it easy to determine if she is in or out of the mandatory reporter pool. Good Luck
