Legal Question in Criminal Law in Missouri

i am just wondering something.the people i work with is haveing an argument about the

casey anthony case.can she testify for her defense team and then refuse to answer any of the

prosecting attorneys questions.half the people say no once she answers any question for her side

she can not then pled the fifth.is that allowed

You are all a littel right and a little wrong. If she testifies in her defense, she must respond ot cross examination questions from the prosecutor. But, with some exceptions, she could plead the fifth amendment and refuse to answer some questions. This is why not all defednats take the stand, as they may be vulnerble to questioning by the prosecution. Teh State (prosecutor and judge) cannot compel a defendant to give testimony agaisnt themself (self incimination) but. if the defendant give statements on direct examination from their attorney, they must also answer some, if not all, questions from the state.
