It has been years since I plead guilty to felony involuntary manslaughter. Is there any chance of my ever owning a firearm again or is it totally out of the question?

You might be able to have the conviction expunged, and get your cuvil rights restored. You should consult directly with a defense surgery, in your area.
Good luck
