My 17 year old got a minor in possesion charge. He has never had a ticket or been in trouble with the law. Does he need a lawyer? He was not drivig.

The question "do I need a lawyer" is almost always answered in the affirmative. The charge your child has, could cause them problems down the road. Having an attorney might get the charges dismissed or reduced to something worth pleading to. On the other hand, you might spend the money on an attorney and your child will get another charge next weekend, and be in the same situation, because they minimize the seriousness of a teenager with alcohol. Sometimes they don't learn until they are at their friend's funeral, in handcuffs, if there are no consequences.
