bail bounds

If we were to put up a bail to bail a friend out with cash and we did not sign anything stateing he didnt have to pay us back would he still be liable to pay us back?

Depending upon the amount, you might be able to sue him under a couple of different legal theories. But first, won't you get your money back when his DWI case if finished? And, if this guy was a good enough friend for you to post his bail, why isn't he a good enough friend to pay you back? Good luck.
