Legal Question in DUI Law in Missouri

Suspended Imposition of Sentence

My question is regarding the driving record. On the administrative suspension regarding the SIS, how is this ''worded'' on the driving record.

Re: Suspended Imposition of Sentence

The wording of your question suggests a lack of understanding on your part. If you were charged with a DWI, you were the defendant in a criminal prosecution (state or municipal Court usually). You may have pled guilty and received a suspended imposition of sentence (SIS). In a separate but related legal proceeding, the Department of Revenue either suspended or revoked your privilege to drive. This was a civil, administrative action, not a criminal prosecution. The Department of Revenue places the administrative suspension or revocation of your license on your driving record stating what it was, and when it was entered. A later entry on your record will reveal when you obtained the reinstatement of your driving privilege. Nothing on the driving record states that you received a SIS on the underlying criminal charge, but anyone that knows the system can easily figure it out. I hope that this helps you to understand.
