I was ticketed for operating under the influence. I contacted the prosecutor to request a diversion but was told that I would need to hire a lawyer or represent myself. When I go to court tomorrow, what would I do to secure a diversion? Or if possible, would I need to ask for a continuance and secure a lawyer?

I advise folks to at least consult directly with a defense attorney, in their area, when charged with such a serious offense. The case against you will be dependent upon the facts. There just is not enough space to provide all the relevant facts here. Have your case evaluated before talking to the prosecutor anymore.
Good luck
