Legal Question in DUI Law in Missouri

underage drinking

I am only 20 years old and was caught drinking and driving. I have court next month and a big ticket to pay. I've never been in trouble with the law before. What should I expect when I go to court? What is my probable punishment?

Re: underage drinking

I can not overemphasize how important it is for you to hire an attorney to represent you on these charges!!!! Many young people make the mistake of not understanding all of their rights or all of the consequences of appearing in Court without an attorney, and the adverse effects can be devastating. If you do not have an attorney and you do not have the time or the money to hire one before court, you should definitley go to court and ask the Judge for a continuance to give you time to hire an attorney. In almost every case the Judge will agree and give you another court date usually in about thirty days. Then, hire the very best, most honest attorney you can afford. Since this is your first DWI, you should come out of everything O.K. I have handled hundreds of similar cases and you can call me if you are in the Eastern half of the state. Good luck!
