Legal Question in Education Law in Missouri
''Posing as a lawyer''
I received a letter today from a supposed ATTORNEY AT LAW. There was no letterhead and the sentence structure was ridiculous. I did a search on attorneys in that area and found none. I did a search on the phone # and it came up matching name but was listed as a home #. IS IT AGAINGST THE LAW TO POSE AS BEING SOMEONE'S ATTORNEY? IS THERE A WEBSITE YOU COULD RECOMMEND THAT I MIGHT FIND OUT FOR SURE IF THIS IS AN ATTORNEY?

Re: ''Posing as a lawyer''
There is a website, but it is closed to the public. You can call the Missouri Supreme Court, Attorney Enrollment section, and they can tell you if a person is a lawyer in Missouri, and if their license is in good standing.
A person who impersonates an attorney can be subject to sanction under certain conditions.
