My mother had to go into a nursing home. They are taking her pension and SS check. She owns a small home which will need to be sold to pay the bills. There is a bank loan of $8,000 still against the home. I have power of attorney and need to sell the house because I can't pay the upkeep or loan payment. I have a buyer for the house but don't know if I can legally sell and pay the nursing home monthly. She is currently set up for Medicaid . Do I have to give them the house or can the money be put in an account and the bill paid from it each month until it is gone. What rights do I have if any. I am the only surviving child and can't afford to make any of her payments.
