Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

Is 18 really legal

I am 18 year old Senior in highschool and my sisters and I have always lived with our parents. The problem is my mom is physically, mentally, and emotional abusive to us and has been for years. I can't take it any more. My best friend and her mother have offered to let me move in with them. I really want to move out, but I was wondering if I do move out then is there any way that my parents could make me come back and live with them, or at 18 am I really legally responsible for myself?

Re: Is 18 really legal

At the age of 18, the law allows you to enter into enforceable contracts for rent or purchase of a house or apartment. You may therefore choose where you live. If you are being physically abused, you need to cal lthe authorities. If it ois yoru mother doing the abuse, and your father does not know, then I would delay alienating them both by just moving out. Bring the situation to your father's attentiona nd give him an opportunity to fix the situation. If you do not feel safe, then get out sooner.

Good Luck
