Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

I am a 17 year old female that lives in Missouri. My parents are trying to make me stay here, but when they let me have a job, they take my money. I am going to have no way to move out at 18 and they are trying to prevent it. I have heard of many people in this state being able to move out at 17 and wondering if it is possible. Thank you.

If you can demonstrate an ability to support yourself, then you might be able to get an Order of Emancipation from the circuit court where you live. These are tricky, and dificult to predict. Once you are eighteen, you can select to keep your money. . But, if you are not a student, your parents can ask you to leave, or charge you rent.

Perhaps you can get a bank account and a jjob that will pay you through direct deposit. On the other hand, many families are in rough financial shape these days, and many teens are contributing to the family finances.

Good luck
