17 yr old daughter being punched and fought with from stepmom.

what recourse do I have to stop the stepmother from beating on my daughter? She has tormented my daughter for 7 yrs. Now the police finally call on them and my daughter is told that she will be the one to go to jail if they call again. Why would she want to call again. Now she will fight back and I am worried she or her stepmother will get hurt badly. Then cause more problems for her. What can I do??

As I see it you have three options. You can take legal action to obtain custody of yoru daughter. You can call the Family Services Division and get them involved. Or, you might be able to file a petition for a protective order under the child protection act. You should consider consulting with an attorney for more specific advice. Good luck.
