Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

17 yr old moves in with me, shes never been to a public school, & her home schooling was barely there. Can I get child support for her, or can I get her emancipated, or get guardianship for her? She wants to go to a public school & graduate, but her parents will not help out at all. She also need to get her shots but her mother refuses to help find her records. Is there anything I can do?

As they child appers to have no way to support themself, it is unlikely thta they woudl get emancipated, but she can try. You may petition the probate court for an Order of Guardianship for the child. If you are succesfuol, you might be able to get an order for support from the court. But, if they court finds grounds to terminate parental rights (which is not certain here) it might prevent the support order. You are good to help this child.

Good luck
