age to leave home with a very slight learning handicap

my girlfriend lives in mo.,she is 18 and graduated this year...she took 2 remedial classes in school. she lives with her mother, but she told her that she could not move out until she turns 21..she is very intelligent,i would provide a wonderful life for her,she keeps fighting with her mother,but she has her convinced that she would be arrested if she left.....can she legally leave..her mother is abusive to her,took away her computer,telephone and mail...

The girl is an adult for many legal purposes when she reaches the age of eighteen. She is absolutely free to leave her mother's home, and there is nothing the police can or will do about it Of course, if she is under a handicap or there are other circumstances which would prevent her from caring for herself or which would make her a danger to herself or others, the result might be different. You have not stated any facts to bring this question within that category.
