Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri
Who is allowed to sign for served papers in Missouri?
My sister in law's ex husband had her institutionalized and filed for divorce in Mo without her knowledge. He listed their home address for them to serve the papers on her. The next door neighbor forged her father's signature. When she got out of the institution she moved to Fl and didn't find out she was divorced and he was granted custody and child support until a few years later. Is there a statue of limitations? What could she do? He was very abusive while they were married and let their daughter get her tongue pierced at 12 yrs. He is also allowing her to give tattoes in his home. She has very little income and doesn't know what to do or where to turn.

Re: Who is allowed to sign for served papers in Missouri?
Your sister-in law in Florida is quite some ways from Missouri, which is where the alleged wrongdoings on the part of her former husband would most likely need to be adddressed.
And, until she returns to Missouri, I very much doubt that much could be done in terms of any attempts to redress these alleged wrongs as very likely little could be accomplished from her current residence in Florida which would appear to have no connection with the matter.
