Re: anullment

Why do you think you want an anullment? Most people who use this term are actually referring to a religious concept, not a legal one. I have advised many people who want an annulment to obtain one through their church if they can. I have also suggested to some that they look up the statute providing for annulment as a starting place for them to understand the basic premise which is that in most cases you want a Dissolution of Marriage. I did succeed in getting a Judge to sign a Judgment of annulment one time in a case where one of the parties had committed bigamy, because the statute on bigamy provided that the second marriage was void, and the case law supported this approach to clear everything up. The Court couldn't enter a regular Dissolution of a Marriage which was void in the first place. Is this the same set of facts as you are facing? In any event, if you think it is as simple as "starting the paperwork" then you have a very basic misconception. You need to hire an attorney.
