Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

Do I need an attorney

My ex-husband served me with papers to stop child support. The papers state that I am the petitioner & he is the respondant. I thought it should be the other way around. He said it is like this because I am the one that filed for the divorce. Our 22 year old just moved out dropped out out of college in June. Our 21 year old decided to take a semester (now he is saying two semesters) off of college (with the permission of his father alone.)He was living with me one month then with his father one month. I told him he couldn't live with me unless he is in school. He has been with his father for two months. What are the age & college attendance rules re: child support. Also, if I sign the papers will I have to go to court & pay court costs? Should I get an attorney to represent me?

child support stops when the kids are emancipated ie. drop out of school, leave home, get a job. The motion is probably legit. If there are extenuating circumstances you might be able to contest. Call me at 314 725-8000 I can help.
