Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri
Do I have to go through an attorney to file an order stating that the child support order be terminated? My child support has already been terminated by Child Support Enforcement but when I sent an Affadavit to Terminate Child Support to the St. Francois County Clerk they sent it back to me stating that it was unnecessary since they were no longer collecting the child support. My daughter turned 21 on August 13, 2013 and has sent me a bill for her college expenses for the Fall 2013 semester. I was under the impression that she would be emancipated on her 21st birthday and my responsibility for the child support, college expenses and insurance would terminate on that date? She had not started the semester as of her birthday and according to the paperwork I received didn't until 8-19-13. My daughter won't have anything to do with me at all unless she wants me to pay for something. It just seems unfair that I would have to hire a lawyer to make it official on paper when all of the statues says it is terminated on the 21st birthday.

Send a letter and a motion to the judge with your affidavit and ask him to enter an order.
