Do I need an Attorney
My husband filed for divorce and I have been served my papers, we agree on almost everyhting, do I need an attorney or someone to represent me if we are agreeing on things?

Yes! There is no doubt whatsoever that you would be much better off in countless ways if you have an attorney represent you in a divorce. I have been practicing law for over twenty-seven years and I have personally handled hundreds of divorces, together with many subsequent legal proceedings which were required because one of the divorcing parties did not have an attorney in the first place. It is great that you and your spouse are being agreeable, and we always try to resolve any issues between spouses in a divorce so that we can obtain the divorce on a non-contested basis. However, in most cases, a person does not really know the first thing about their legal rights and duties and how various decisions made in a divorce will effect them in the future. Many times a divorce can still be diffficult and complicated even with an attorney, but any one who goes through a divorce withour legal representation is making a huge mistake.
