Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

My boyfriend and his ex girlfriend have a son together but do not have any sort of custody agreement. The mother is trying to take their son to another state to stay with her sister for a month and then move away with their son and her new boyfriend. Can she legally do this without permission from my boyfriend?

Yes. There was a case recently on this very issue. If your boyfriend wants to prevent this, he needs to file something with the court immediately. What he needs to file depends on some facts I don't have here.
