Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

My boyfriend's ex wife has stopped making payments on her car loan which has negatively affected my boyfriend's credit because she never removed his name from the loan like she was supposed to (according to the divorce decree.) My question is, is it possible for him to take possession of the car since his name is still on the loan, even though she's supposed to be responsible for it, and take over the payments and possibly terminate child support payments since he will have taken on 100% of the debt from the marriage at that point? (He was able to reduce his child support payments during the divorce because he took on a majority of the debt from the marriage.)
