Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri
My brother works for a traveling electrician company, building nuclear plants etc. This requires him to live out of state for months at a time. He is currently going through a divorce, and his soon-to-be ex-wife filed for child abandonment against him. He is not ordered by court to pay child support, but sends money weekly to cover his 2 year old daughter's day care bills, clothes, food, toys etc. He calls every day to talk to her, and goes home as often as he can to see her. He already has a lawyer that is proving to be absolutely no help, telling him there's nothing they can do, and he'll have to take whatever is thrown at him in court. How does she have any grounds to file for abandonment, when he has in no way abandoned his child? MO considers this to be a federal offense, and if convicted, by brother faces serious jail time. Should he be worried?

Of cours eyoru brother shoudl be worried. Anytime someone is accused of a crime they shoudl take it seriously. But, it sounds like your brother may want to interview new attorneys. He shouydl also keep track of all the funds he sends for the support of the child.
Good luck
