Change In Child Support
I am paying for child support for my 2 daughters, aged 17 and 22. My eldest daughter is going to college, but she will turn 22 on October 6th. Starting with my child support payment in November, can I cut my payment in half, since I am no longer required to provide support for my older daughter, or do I have to go back to court to make this happen? Since I live in VA, would I have to be physically present to make this change?

Re: Change In Child Support
Assuming that you are currently paying child support under terms you agreed to in a property settlement agreement (PSA)which was later incorporated in your final decree of divorce and which specifically says that you will pay support for the children (or at least for the older daughter until either she/they turn 22 or finish college---whichever happens first----then upon the happening of one or the other of these two conditions, you are automatically discharged from your obligation to pay the support for that particular child after that condition has come about and there is no need for you to return to court seeking an order of discharge.
Re: Change In Child Support
You need to have an order entered.
Why are you paying for the 22 year old anyway?
