Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

Last name change process

I was born in Oregon for non-american parents.Igot an american passport stating a last name that is different than the one used in my native counry. I left to my native country and completed my studying there using my on-american passport whic has a different last name than the one in the american passport. I returned to the ststes to complete my graduate studies. I need now to change my american last name to the one used in my forign passport. What should I do? How much it will cost to hire a lawyer? How long time it would take to finish this issue. I have been in Missouri for one week only.

Re: Last name change process

In order to legally change your name here in Missouri you will need to file a lawsuit and make an appearance before a judge. Also, a legal notice must be published a few times. I have done several name changes, and they are usually not difficult. If you are located in the St. Louis area I would be willing to represent you. You may call me at 314-727-2822 for a consultation and a fee quotation.
