Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

child custody

Our daughter in law just left our son. She doesn't have a job, doesn't have a drivers license, and does not have a ged. My wife and i have her a lot. We had her this weekend because she was sick, because my daughter in law couldn't take care of her. My granddaughter, who is 15 months has never been sick till my daughter inlaw moved in with her aunt, who has 2 cats, 2 birds, and a dog and smokes around her. I'm just wondering if it is possible for the grandparents to get custody.

Re: child custody

Yes, under Missouri law it is possible for grandparents to obtain custody of a grandchild. In fact, I just accomplished this result for a client within the last year or so. However, the legal process may be lengthy, difficult and expensive. If you would like a free telephone consultation, you may call me at my office, and I would be glad to help you.

Re: child custody

Under the facts you described, it might be best if your son seeks custody. That could very much lessen the legal expenses for you.

Good Luck
