Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

child custody

My husband filed a restraining order against me under false allegations. He made me leave my home and I had no where to go so my Mom flew me out to her home in California. I am from Missouri. At the time he made me leave and he had the children and due to the restraining order I had to leave them. Now I doubt that I can get back to Missouri in time for the hearing. Will I lose custody of my children to him and is there anything that I can do from out of state to keep this from happening?

Re: child custody

You may be able to hire local counsel to enter the case as your attorney and request a continuance in order to allow you enough time to make travel plans. Obviously, there will be a request on his part for a court order granting him custody of the children and requiring you to pay child support. You may want to contest some or all of his requests. If this case is in the Eastern part of the state, I might be able to help you myself. Please feel free to contact me if you do not already have an attorney.
