Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

Child custody question

Last August in 08, my ex called me and asked if my then 12 year old could live with me in Kentucky. Long story short, my daughter has been in my custody since that day. I've since moved us back to Missouri to be closer to my other daughter (still with my ex). What can I do to make this custody change permanent? The county/state/city court has no record of this custody change (except that my ex's attorney knows of the situation). Can I just send my ex a written letter asking her to acknowledge this on paper and then send it to the court or will I need to actually ask a judges permission for the custody change?

Re: Child custody question

Only the Judge can change a custody order. You need to file a Motion to Modify. You should hire an attorney to represent you in this undertaking. Good luck.
