Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

Child Custody

My stepson is 16 1/2. My husband and the childs mother decided to deal with custody and child support outside of the courts. Custody has been 50/50 forever, child support was paid until he was 12, and per agreement between parents child support was stopped. If the child chooses to live with his mother at this stage can she go back and try to get money from us. All insureance, medical bills, clothing school supplies, braces, scout trips functions, lunch, everything is paid by us, not his mother. What are our options at this point?

Re: Child Custody

I am guessing that your husband was not married to this child's mother since a divorce court would not allow them to just keep the issues of child custody and child support outside of court as you say. Yes, the child's mother could certainly go to court and seek any court order allowed by law including full custody, child support, and many other items.
