Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

child custody of 16 yrs. old

I am the custodial father and want to sign over my rights to the biological mother - can I just go before a judge if we both sign or do I have to hire an attorney?

If you are talking about modifying the custody terms of an existing Court Order, then I would strongly suggest that you hire an attorney. Although you have the right to try to accomplish this "pro se", that is without an attorney, I think that there are many reasons why it would be best to spend a modest amount of money to obtain the professional services of an attorney who is experienced with this type of case. If you do not have an attorney already, you may call me for a consultation.
