Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

child support over age of 21

I have 21 year old who still lives with her mother , she is going to college and has a part time job (the 21 year old) . I am the father, i do pay child support, plus take care of the health insurance . I have been told several years ago that with any of my kids that go onto college that I will be responsable for paying child support for 4 years of their college years, does this still hold true? if so, since the child is now 21 years old can the child support be payed directly to the child through the court system?

Re: child support over age of 21

Yes, the Missouri child support statute does provide that your child support obligation continues if your child continues with her college education and fulfills all of the other requirements of the law. Before I could give you any specific advice about your own situation, I would need a consultation with you. I would be happy to offer you a free telephone consultation if you would call me at 314-727-2822. Thank you.
