Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri
Child Support Not Court Ordered
I pay 50percent of my check to child support for 2 children, I have lost my home, and went in debt with utility companies because I was unable to pay my rent and bills which was well over 50percent. have tried contacting the officials on numerous occasions but they refuse to look into it and everytime i 'get back on my feet' they throw the order at me and knock me right back where I was. Is there any legal means I can get the child support decreased to where I can survive?

Re: Child Support Not Court Ordered
The heading of your post says that the child support is not court ordered. Was there an administrative determination of child support made by the division of child support enforcement? Are your wages subject to a garnishment or a wage withholding? I would need to know all of the facts before I could offer you any competent legal advice. I can tell you, however, that there is a mechanism for seeking a reduction of the child support amount, and you may be entitled to some relief under the law if your facts are right.
