do I need a lawyer to file an answer to a motion to stop child support.

Not necessarily. If the other parent filed a form with the clerk which the clerk sent to you and you agree with the statements made by the other parent, you can simply fill in your response admitting that the child is emancipated and that child support should stop. If you disagree with the statements made by the other parent I would strongly suggest consulting with an attoreny.
