Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri
Child support after parental rights have been terminated
If both parents parental rights have been terminated and the children have also now been adopted by the foster parents (who had custody of them since they were taken from the parents - family was never contacted or asked if the wanted the children), does the father still have obligation to pay child support? Does he have obligation to pay back child support when they wouldn't allow him visitation without reason. This was not a case of abandonment - we were making the trip back and forth to Springfield, MO from FL each time to go to all court proceedings. When the judge finally asked for a home study for us, MO held it up for 2 months, the date then set for the same day as the last court hearing, which we then had to miss because of the home study (not to mention, less than 2 weeks notice for the hearing). When one judge would not grant the adoption/termination of rights, the foster family went to another court and because we missed that hearing (the same one noted above), they severed the father's' rights (the mother's rights had already been terminated). Do we have any legal standing here and do you think our case is worth a second look even tough the children have already been adopted out?

Re: Child support after parental rights have been terminated
Given your statement here, I don't think you have a good chance of having the order repealed or set aside. You are also responsible for any accrued child support (arrears) but you should not be responsible for anything more at this point.
