Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

child support

My son is 18, graduated high school in April. His Mother will not give me any information on him. I do not know if he is in college or not. How do I stop automatic withdraw of child support from my paycheck. I live and work in another county than where it was ordered?

Re: child support

Can you contact your son directly? If not, and there is no other way to get the info directly, you can file a Motion to Terminate your child support obligation. You can do this yourself, and the clerk will send the Motion giving your ex thirty days to admit or deny your allegation that the child is over 18 and has not enrolled in college by October first and otherwise complied with the statutory requirements for extending your child support obligation. If she admits it, a ruling is entered and you provide a certified copy to your employer. If she denies it, the matter will be scheduled for a hearing and you will get the info you need. Good luck.
