Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

Right to childs college transcripts.

I am non-custodial father of two. Have paid child support for 10 yrs. Oldest daughter has been in three different colleges since graduating in 2000. In Missouri do I have to pay child support until age 22 or quitting college? More importantly, I have heard child support can cease if a break in classes or failure to complete a semester happens. Her mother is very secretive about her college attendance, won't give me any information. Legally, how can I find out if she has completed each semester and has taken the required admount of hours each semester? Daughter hasn't spoken to me in years. Am I legally entitled to see transcripts? Please help.

Re: Right to childs college transcripts.

The Missouri child support statute does specifically include a requirement for the father to be informed of the child's progress in school, and specifically requires the father to be provided with copies of the transcripts or class schedules. I would suggest that you write the mother a polite letter requesting full documentation of the child's progress in school from the start of her college career, and suggest that you will have no option but to file a motion in court seeking termination of your child support obligation if your request is not complied with. Then, if they won't share the information with you, file the motion. Good luck.
