Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

Cohabitation Questions

My boyfriend, who I was living with for 3 years, said he would pay for any expenses I put on my credit card. Now we aren't together anymore, and he is refusing to pay for the debt that I accumlated while living with him, under his care. Is he responsible for his promise to ''take care of it?''

Re: Cohabitation Questions

Generally you alone are legally responsible to pay your credit card debt. You might be able to sue your ex-boyfriend if he agreed to be responsible to you for any debt you incurred together, based upon a contract theory, but just the fact that you lived together does not make him liable.
