Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

complicated paternity

I'm going to try to make this short with just the facts.

Saint Louis, MO. Boyfriend raised two children while ex-girlfriend was in and out of prison most of their lives. His name was not either child's birth certificate. Mother got out of prison and 6 months ago, the two children, now ages 10 and 11 decided they wanted to live with her. Boyfriend just got served papers where she is asking for DNA testing and back child support on him and her ex-husband. My question is this: If boyfriend is proven to be father to one or both children, can he legally sue for back child support for all the years he raised them alone while she was in prison?

Re: complicated paternity

No, he can't get child support from the mother for all those years because he is not the legal father of the children. He should have hired an attorney and gotten a determination of paternity and child support order from the very beginning. He should consult with an attorney and hire an attorney to represent him in any pending litigation.
