Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

if custodial parent has child who is 17 and that child wants to live with the non custodial parent can he make that decision on his own or do you i need to go threw the court system ?

In many cases, if the parents agree, the child may move without the need to go to court. But, there are cases where the court chose to not place the child with the other parent for a safety reason. In that case, court approval is recommended.
