Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri
custody over my daughter
My ex-boyfriend and I have a daughter together. I left him because he was very violent and he hit me while I was holding our daughter. I have two police reports on incidences like that. He has been very non existant in her life since our relationship ended being gone for up to 3 months at a time. Well I just got served with a report saying that he wants full custody of her. I don't want him to have anything. I am now engaged and my fiancee and her have grown closer than you could imagine. I would like for him to be able to adopt her after the wedding and he wants that just as bad. My daughter doesn't know her dad or his family. I was wondering how good of a chance you think I have? Is it a common thing? Even I got served he had nothing to do with her. I have no clue what his point is.

One thing is for certain, you need an attorney to represent you in whatever your ex-boy friend has filed against you. Unfortunately, these types of legal problems seem to be very common these days. Many people somehow see fit to just have a child and let the legal consequences fall where they may.Of course you can not undo what has already been done, but the actions you take, or fail to take, from this point forward will have long lasting effects on your life and more importantly the life of that child. I have handled many similar situations, and if you would like a free telephone consultation, you may call me at 314-727-2888. If you do not call me, please be sure to consult with competent legal counsel just as soon as you can do so.
