custody of my granddaughter
My son was killed 2 years ago girlfriend was 3 months pregreant with his daughter. Girlfriend has been collecting my sons social securtiy on my granddaughter. Girlfriend was killed in auto accident 3 day ago. I want custody of my granddaughter. What do I need to do since she is with her maternal grandmother. What are my rights as paternal grandparent? Granddaughter carries my sons last name. Maternal grandmother was proven unfit mother and full custody of youngest daughter given to her exhusband. What are my options and how do I need to handle this matter? Thanks for all your help.

In my opinion you need to file a Petition in the Probate Court seeking the establishment of a Guardianship and also a Conservatorship for the little girl. You would ask the Court to name you as the Guardian and possible also name you to serve as Conservator of the child's estate.
