custody laws between MO and NY
If a child was born in Missouri and lives in Missouri with one parent but the other parent lives in New York and wants to fight for custody will that fight have to take place in Missouri or could they file in New York?

Under the facts you describe, Missouri would be the correct forum. However, if the child were in New York, such as during a visit, a custody suit could be started there.
