Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri
I dated a guy for 2 months broke up then found out I was pregnant. He came to some appointments and was ther for the birth. Within the first 2 weeks he came to visit 3-5 times for a couple hours each visit and tried to get me to let him take her every time for days. After the 2nd week of saying no he has yet to come around again. She is a newborn. I have not denied her from him to come and see her, but now it has been 5 weeks since he has seen her and is demanding her this weekend and wants her social sec #. Just would like to know my right and if I have to let her go with him. He is wanting her up to 3-5 days at a time. I don't know him all that well enough to just hand her over father or not.

Did the father sign an affidavit of paternity and have his name placed on the birth certificate? Has he been determined to be the legal father by a Court or by the FSD? There is a difference between being the biological father and being the legal father. It sounds to me as if you need to hire an attorney to help you obtain a Court Order which will provide for child support and custody (legal and physical.) This is extremely important for you and your baby. Do not delay another day. I have handled hundreds of these cases over the last 36 years. You need to hire an experienced family law attorney to file a paternity suit so there is a custody order. At this time either one can take the child and not return it. You have no protection with out a court order.
