Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

My daughter is 18 and wants to hyphen her last name. Can she in the state of MO. She is not out of school. I don't want to mess up the child support. I comes from Tulsa, OK.

Under Missouri law, child support is owed to the parent, altering the child legal name, may not terminate a parents obligation to pay support. Your daughter may be able to start using the hyphenated name, and later petition the court to change her legal name.

Your daughter is an adult for certain legal purposes, and she can hire an attorney to obtain a Name Change. It will not effect any child support obligation.
