Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

The deed to my Mother's house read that upon her death her house was to go to her three daughters. She also left a checking account in her name and one of my sisters. It was agreed that all bills including house insurance and taxes be paid from this account. Taxes are now due and my sister is wanting us to help pay the taxes. I have asked for copies of the bank statements and copies of all bills paid from this account before I contribute any funds. My sister is refusing. What can I do?

I am sorry to hear of your mother's passing. You have my condolences.

You may be able to persuade a Court to Order your sister to give an accounting for the funds that were in the account at the time of your rmother's passing. Consult directly with an attorney in your area to see if you should open a probate estate for your mother, or if an accouting will suffice.
